How to Get the Benefits of Seaweed Oil at Home
People across the globe are now turning to seaweed oil for many of their beauty needs. Research has shown that seaweed oil and products infused with essence of seaweed can not only moisturize your skin and reduce acne, but it also helps with skin regeneration, detoxification, and blood circulation as well. This combines to leave your skin looking and feelings years younger and firmer.
Many women go to the spa and spend anywhere from $50 up to $150 for one spa treatment featuring a seaweed infusion. While these are certainly welcome luxuries, the majority of people cannot afford to do this on a regular basis. Luckily for those people, there are ways to harness the many benefits of seaweed daily at home.
Homemade Seaweed Oil
To have seaweed as part of your daily beauty regimen, it is essential to either buy a supply of ready-made seaweed products, or to make your own seaweed-infused beauty treatments. This is an easy to follow recipe, and will be the basis of several homemade beauty products that you can easily make yourself, for a fraction of the price it would cost in a specialty spa store.
To begin with, you will need the following ingredients and items:
2 tablespoons of powdered seaweed (this can be purchased online or in many fine stores)
4 tablespoons of jojoba or olive oil
2 cups of bottled water
1 half cup of aloe vera gel
Large bowl
Food processor
Whisk or fork
Funnel or turkey baster
Empty squeeze bottle
Here is what you need to do:
- First, pour the seaweed powder and the aloe vera gel into your mixing bowl. Mix them briskly with a whisk or a fork until the solution is completely combined.
- Combine the seaweed/aloe mixture with the bottled water and oil in a food processor. Pulse for at least one minute, or until the ingredients have completely blended and you are left with a smooth concoction.
- Using the funnel or turkey baster, pour your mixture into the empty squeeze bottle, being careful not to spill any excess liquid.
How to Use Your Homemade Seaweed Oil
Now that you have your own batch of beautifying oil, you can opt to use it by itself or as an additive to lotions and body washes. It’s very effective as its own beauty product, but many people like to create an assortment of seaweed infused beauty products that can be used every day.
If you choose to use the oil by itself, then do so sparingly. After you bathe or shower, pat yourself damp. Leaving some water on the skin is ideal, because when you moisturize the oil traps the water in your skin and gives you an added boost. To towel dry completely is counterproductive. Once you are done toweling, pour a very small amount of the oil into your palm (no larger than the size of a quarter) and apply it all over your body. Massage the oil gently but thoroughly into your skin. Be sure to let the oil absorb into your skin before putting on any clothing.
While the above method is more than an adequate means of rejuvenating your skin, you may wish to infuse your other daily hygiene products as well. This is very simple to do. Simply add 5 – 8 drops of the seaweed oil to an 8 ounce bottle of body wash or body lotion and mix together thoroughly. You may wish to add a drop or two to your shampoo and conditioner as well, since seaweed has proven to be beneficial to scalp health as well.
After the first application of the oil you will notice how soft and supple your skin feels. If you continue on a daily basis, you will see more permanent changes within two weeks.
